Drain Cleaning: How To Get Rid of Odors

There are few things more annoying than a bad odor coming out from your drains. Even if your home is squeaky clean, a bad smell can ruin your day and your family’s comfort around the house. Fortunately, there are some easy tricks that you can put in practice to get rid of this problem. Here below we give you one expert’s DIY trick that will solve the odor issue.

  • Step 1. Discharge 1 cup of vinegar down through the odorous drain. Wait for 30 minutes and then rinse using hot water. This step will remove stubborn stains and prepare your drain for the following steps.
  • Step 2. This step will help to eliminate drain odors and remove partial blockages from your drain. First, boil 3 cups of water and get some baking soda. Pour 1 cup of it down the drain and immediately pour the hot water you boiled. You need to repeat this process until the water drains quickly and the odor is gone.
  • Step 3. Get some fresh lemon juice or a half cup of lemon concentrate and pour it down the drain. Wait 1 hour before running water in through your drain.
  • Step 4. A white porcelain sink will get shiny by using bleach. Fill the sink with pure bleach (directly from the bottle). Wait 10 minutes and drain the bleach. Rinse the drain by letting water to flow until the bleach odor is gone and your sink is white! A bleach pen can eliminate remaining stains.
  • Step 5. This step will help you clean a stinky disposal when it works fine but smells bad. Fill the disposal with a few ice cubes and pour a little cold water. The disposal will grind the ice cubs, which will work as an abrasive without damaging the steel grinders.
